Jirar at March 2011 Show

On May 12th we lost a special dealer who will be very much missed. Jirar passed away at his home in Florida. I met Jirar about 16 years ago and loved him imediately. He was always generous with hugs and kind words. He treated Dad, Mom, Glenn and me as very special family. Jirar talked about how much he loved and missed his mother who passed away a few years ago. I feel that he is now spending all the time he wants with her.

We know that there are many dealers and customers who were special to him and feel the same way about him. Memories of Jirar

Jirar was a kind and wonderful man and Jim summed it all up the other day by saying, “At least Jirar lived his life the way he wanted to”. I think that was the best thing anyone could have said about Jirar because so many of us don’t live our lives the way we want to and later regret it. Jirar would have given the shirt off of his back to anyone, he was just that way… kind & wonderful and never met a stranger. We will miss him and I don’t think it has totally sunk in yet. I dread the next show that we do that he would have been at, it won’t seem the same without him. We are keeping our prayers going for his family and hope that someone finds them soon.

Memories of Jirar

Jirar will be missed by all. When he laughed his whole belly shook kind of like Santa Clause. His laugh was contagious and when he laughed it was a real laugh. I met Jirar about four or five years ago while working at the Gem and Mineral Show for Terry and Glenn James. There was never a stranger in his eyes; he spoke with everyone that came to the Gem and Mineral Shows and made everyone feel welcome. When I first started talking with him it was like we had been friends for years. His friendship and presence will deeply be missed.

Memories of Jirar

I met Jirar at one of the shows years ago. When he found out we were both Armenian (I'm 2nd generation) he was thrilled. He was always so kind and fun to visit with. I was able to meet his mother one year and she reminded me very much of my Armenian grandmother. Jirar laughed and said something to the effect that 'didn't I know that all llittle old Armenian ladies looked like someone's grandmother?'
Even though I haven't been able to attend shows due to health reasons, I will miss him very much.

I have done the police security for the Gem and Mineral Shows for more than 17 years. We see the same people at least three times a year – almost like a family reunion. JIRAR was like the Uncle that everyone looked forward to seeing and laughing with at shows. He was always friendly and remembered everyone. He loved the police officers that worked the shows and always told me that I was his favorite (probably because I was the only female!) He had a huge heart and he was extremely generous. He gave me a framed leather flag that his brother made just after 9-11. It is beautifully done and I have had many people ask to buy it. I would never give it up because it came from a friend named JIRAR and now that flag means even more to me ….. LIVE EACH DAY LIKE IT WAS YOUR LAST !
